these are all books i own and have read,..meditating on the ideas expressed in books like these i have found will help w/ expansion. also on my page ive added a vid about kundalini meditation and yoga, this covers all of the basic chakras and the energy associated w/ them. imo its very good and educational. i know its a bit overwhelming. A very wise friend of mine suggested reading fiction or a fun novel n between to cleanse your mental palate and give your brain a break so u can approach each book w/ a fresh start.

Your path will unfold before you, and asking your friends here is a good way to get a lot of ideas. Many of my books are still packed from my last move, but here are two that made a profound effect on me several years ago, and still resound deeply, both by Bob Frissell, and neither likely in Barnes and Nobel. Easily found on Amazon though:
-- Nothing in this Book is True, But It's Exactly How Things Are
-- You Are a Spiritual Being Having a Human Experience
This last title---it is something we must remember in our daily lives. Be gentle on yourself. Learning about all of this doesn't come overnight, even when we are eager to do so. It takes years of development for spiritual growth. Though many of us can feel the power of ten since arriving at this site together...it really has increased the growth in a logarithmic way.
The previous poster said something I really agree with and do myself, only in a slightly different way, and that is the concept of mixing the reading of deep books with a book of lighter matter. When I am reading something fairly deep, such as the two titles above---something I really do want to absorb but that has a lot of information in it, then I need to read it slowly and am unable to do chapter after chapter. I prefer to read a section and then walk away from it in order to think about it and integrate it into my being, whether through taking a walk, doing the dishes, or actual meditation. Part of getting through a deep book successfully for me is to read a lighter book at the same time---yes, to have two books going at once. I'm not always in the mood for "deep". Here is a good suggestion for a spiritual investment of a lighter fare that could be read while reading a deeper book:

It really goes along with the type of thinking as my fourth recommendation to you, which is a way of living and being:
-- The Power of Now, A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment By Eckhart Tolle
The whole frame of thinking is that all we ever have is this very moment.
My last idea for you is to find a devotional book that is to your liking---and that will be at Barnes and Noble. This is a book that will have a one-page reading for each day of the year. They are written based on every religion, subject matter, and way of thinking in the world....so go find one that is to your liking, and then use that reading to start off one of your meditation times of the day.
You might also try going to a different type of store to narrow your search for the type of books you are looking for. In the closest town I go to for shopping there is a health food store that has a delightful selction of just the kind of books you might enjoy browsing through.

I like reading the book Prism of Lyra. I'm not sure if they have it on the shelf since it came out in the 90's. I know you can find it at Amazon.com

Illusions, by Richard Bach is one of my all time favorites. A New Earth is a recent one as well as the Crystal Stair, by Eric Klein. Fun books are the Education of Oversoul #7, by Jane Roberts of Seth fame. Not too many books specifically about chakras out there.

Read some of those books and they will lead you to others that you might like. illusions and oversoul 7 are both fun books and very easy to understand.

Pick the book that first catches your eye, open it up in the middle and read a bit, if you feel good about it, get it.
If not, try again.

I actually find most of my books on Amazon.com. I read the reviews and I can usually browse inside the book. I read as much of the free material as they make available and then if I want to read more I buy the book. I like amazon cuz you can search for topics that interest you and browse books accordingly. Good luck man, you've go great suggestions here so far.

Much in my life changed when I read CONVERSATION WITH GOD, N.D.Walsh......
A little earlier, at the lowest point of a 'burnout', feeling absolutely desperate and hopeless because I didn't know what was going on.... ...I had decided that God, who I had believed in all my life, didn't exist...I had been conned by my church and all who said God loved me and he hears us.... he had promised ... and I was raging, He!! ...had forsaken me... (... I refused to go to the doctor because I don't trust....) Still, only a few weeks later I was led to this book...by the same friend who by explaining to me what was wrong with me because she had had it ....lifted me out of utter desperation and handed me Hope....she took me to this bookshop on my first attempt to get into town (London..:))..... and I had to be'worked on'.!!...:)....... still it tickled my fancy.. in spite of my anger just by reading the title...
So.. I decided I could afford to throw it in the bin..if it gave me any of the religious crap...it was the most profound turning point for me to dare to trust again.... and how Spirit works in mysterious ways......
...That was 1997.....many many other books have delighted, directed and comforted me. After reading the first CWG book I decided that I would always trust my spiritual entourage to help me find the right books to help me move forward and remind me of home..That has been absolutely true for me! Some books sat on the shelf for 3 years and then ...then I was ready..:)!
I loved and still do, reading the Robert Shapiro, THE EXPLORER RACE books and SHINING THE LIGHT series and the 3 books: SHAMANIC SECRETS FOR PHYSICAL MASTERY; SHAMANIC SECRETS FOR MATERIAL MASTERY; SHAMANIC SECRETS FOR SPIRITUAL MASTERY..... I can highly recommend them, they are also very practical, specially, if like me, you do not have much access to other spiritual/support groups...
I read the SEDONA magazine and I find that supports me and like all other channelling one has to be on ones toes and awake, but this mag. resonates with me...
I also have read all of KRYON's books and I have basked in the love that comes through, interesting and at times complex teaching!
Loved THE POWER OF NOW, great teaching!
...read various books by Barbara Marciniak, they rang true for me too..

Fun and light reading are the Diana Cooper Fiction books..
Loved the TELOS books too!
and many more..

So go into a large bookshop and check out the mind/body/spirit section and see what takes your fancy...it's supposed to be fun..... remember?!
You reach for the light, the light reaches back...you are supported!

Re books on Chakras you could try the basic Chakras For Beginners by David Pond. Or to clear your chakras, try Doreen Virtue's Chakra Clearing book - she also has the great meditation CD of same name.
